Description
Château Trotanoy is one of the great names of Pomerol, owned by the Moueix family. Old Merlot vines, with a little Cabernet Franc, grow on clay and gravel soils that give the wine its depth and firmness.
The vintage 2002. 2002 was a cool year saved by a fine September, especially for Cabernet; the wines are classic, fresh and elegant rather than opulent.
Plum, black cherry and mulberry, truffle, cocoa and a ferrous, earthy note; a dense, velvety palate with firm underlying structure and a long, savoury finish.
Service & pairing. Serve at 16–17 °C after decanting. Superb with veal sweetbreads, duck, roast pigeon or a dish of cèpes à la bordelaise.
