Description

Masseto is a 100% Merlot from a small hillside of blue Pliocene clay in Bolgheri, originally part of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia. Its first vintages appeared in the late 1980s and it has since become one of the most sought-after wines in the world.

The vintage 2013. 2013 was a cooler, classic Tuscan vintage of elegance and freshness.

Plum, black cherry and blackberry, with truffle, cocoa, liquorice and iron; dense, velvety and powerful, with a long, mineral finish.

Service & pairing. Serve at 17–18 °C in a large glass. Decant younger vintages for one to two hours; stand older bottles upright the day before and decant gently. Superb with beef fillet with truffle, duck, game or aged Parmigiano.
