Description
Pavillon Rouge is the second wine of Château Margaux, made from the same vineyards and by the same team as the Grand Vin. Selection is rigorous and the blend usually carries a little more Merlot, so the wine opens earlier while keeping the estate’s unmistakable grace.
The vintage 1998. 1998 favoured Merlot and the Right Bank, while the Médoc produced firm, classic wines; it has aged into a harmonious, savoury vintage.
Red and black fruit, violet and a touch of graphite on the nose; a supple, finely grained palate with fresh acidity and a polished, perfumed finish.
Service & pairing. Serve at 16–17 °C after a short decanting. Lovely with roast veal, duck breast, lamb cutlets or aged Comté.
