Description
The Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases is a Second Growth of 1855 in Saint-Julien. Its walled Grand Clos borders Château Latour, and the estate’s uncompromising selection has long placed it among the very finest wines of the Médoc.
The vintage 1988. 1988 is a classic, firm vintage with marked tannins and freshness, the most austere of the 1988-89-90 trio and now rewarding with savoury complexity.
Classic and deep: cassis, black cherry, cedar and graphite, with a dense core and firm, noble tannins. It ages slowly into tobacco, truffle and a long, mineral finish.
Service & pairing. Serve at 17 °C, decanted. Superb with roast lamb, beef Wellington, pigeon or a mature Cantal.
