Description
Château Margaux is one of the four original Premiers Grands Crus Classés of the 1855 Classification and the reference point of the Margaux appellation. Its deep gravel soils give a Cabernet Sauvignon–led blend, completed by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, of rare finesse.
The vintage 2009. 2009 is a warm, sunny vintage of exceptional ripeness: opulent, velvety wines with great depth.
Expect the house signature: violet and rose petal on the nose, cassis and black cherry, cedar and fine graphite. The tannins are silky rather than muscular and the finish is long, airy and perfumed.
Service & pairing. Serve at 16–18 °C. Decant young vintages for an hour; stand mature bottles upright the day before and decant gently just before serving. Ideal with rack of lamb, beef fillet, porcini or a black-truffle risotto.
