Description
Château Pichon Longueville Baron is a Second Growth of 1855 in Pauillac, with vineyards on gravel just across the road from Château Latour. Cabernet Sauvignon leads a blend that is consistently among the most powerful of the ‘super seconds’.
The vintage 1990. 1990 is one of the great vintages of its era: a hot, dry year that produced wines of richness, ripe fruit and balance, now drinking magnificently.
Blackcurrant and blackberry, graphite, cedar and dark chocolate on a dense, firmly structured palate. With age it gains cigar box, truffle and a savoury, mineral length.
Service & pairing. Serve at 17 °C after decanting. Excellent with grilled rib of beef, lamb shoulder with rosemary or a mushroom and chestnut pie.
