Description

Petrolo is a historic estate in the Valdarno di Sopra, in the hills between Florence and Arezzo. Galatrona, named after a medieval tower on the property, is a 100% Merlot that has become one of Italy’s most acclaimed.

The vintage 2003. 2003, the heatwave year, gave rich, ripe and powerful Tuscan wines.

Plum, black cherry, cocoa and spice with a fresh, savoury edge; velvety and deep.

Service & pairing. Serve at 17–18 °C in a large glass. Decant younger vintages for one to two hours; stand older bottles upright the day before and decant gently. Pair with roast meats, duck or porcini.
