Description
Château de Fargues belongs to the Lur-Saluces family, who owned Château d’Yquem for more than two centuries. The estate applies the same exacting method, berry-by-berry harvests of botrytised Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, on a tiny production.
The vintage 2013. 2013, a difficult year for red Bordeaux, brought excellent noble rot to Sauternes, with pure, fresh, vibrant wines.
Apricot, quince, candied citrus, honey and beeswax with a touch of saffron; rich and creamy yet lifted by bright acidity, with a long, spicy finish.
Service & pairing. Serve at 10–12 °C. Wonderful with foie gras, blue cheese, roast poultry with apricots or a lemon tart.
