Description
Domaine Leroy, founded by Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1988, farms biodynamically and harvests minuscule yields. Its Clos de Vougeot comes from the walled grand cru created by the Cistercian monks and is among the most sought-after versions of the appellation.
The vintage 2000. 2000 produced lighter, fragrant red Burgundies that matured relatively early.
Dark cherry, plum and violet, with spice, earth and a touch of truffle; concentrated, velvety and deep, with a long, savoury finish.
Service & pairing. Serve at 15–16 °C in a wide Burgundy glass. Decant young bottles briefly; open mature ones an hour ahead and pour gently, leaving any sediment in the bottle. Superb with beef fillet, venison, wild duck or truffled dishes.
