Description

Ravenswood, founded by Joel Peterson in Sonoma, made its name with single-vineyard wines. This Merlot comes from the Sangiacomo family vineyards in the cool Carneros district.

The vintage 1996. 1996 gave structured, concentrated wines in California’s North Coast.

Plum, black cherry, herbs and spice; mature, supple and savoury.

Service & pairing. Serve at 17–18 °C in a large glass, decanted an hour or two ahead; older bottles gently, to leave the sediment behind. Pair with roast pork, duck or mushroom dishes.
