Description
Early bottlings of The Macallan were labelled as pure malt and strength was expressed in British proof: 80° proof corresponds to about 45.7% alcohol. Bottles of this era are highly prized by collectors.
Old-style sherried malt: dried fruit, toffee, wax, polished wood and a light smoky note.
Service & pairing. Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip-shaped nosing glass; add a few drops of still water to open the aromas if you wish. Museum piece: keep upright, away from light.
