Description
Monfortino is the Riserva of Giacomo Conterno, made from the Francia vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba only in the greatest years and aged for many years in large casks before release. It is regarded as the benchmark of traditional Barolo.
The vintage 2015. 2015 was a warm, sunny vintage giving ripe, generous Barolo.
Rose, red cherry, tar, liquorice, orange peel and spice; powerful yet refined, with firm tannins and immense length.
Service & pairing. Serve at 17 °C in a tall Nebbiolo or Burgundy glass. Decant younger vintages for two hours or more; older ones gently, to separate the sediment. Pair with white truffle, braised beef in Barolo, game or Castelmagno.
